This wildly popular event, sponsored by the Dayton Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), provides youth grades 1-12 a wealth of information about the magnificent pipe organ . . . from mechanics of the instrument, to its history, as well as the training needed to become a skilled organist.

Here's the agenda . . .

INTRODUCTION

Featuring the extremely talented organist, Mrs. Priscilla Acuff, attendees will hear various selections of music that demonstrate the wide variety of sounds the organ can produce. Via a screen in the church sanctuary, all will be able to watch Mrs. Acuff as she masterfully plays the instrument's 3 keyboards and pedal board.

GROUP SESSIONS

Attendees will be assigned to one of three groups which will rotate between:

* A visit to areas where the actual pipes are located. Mr. Matt Hunt of Hunt Pipe Organ Services will show how pipes of different materials and different sizes produce very different sounds!

* An interesting and engaging demonstration by nationally acclaimed organist, Yun Kim, of the mechanics of the pipe organ. Attendees will leave the session with an understanding of all the components that work together to make the organ the "King of Instruments".

* Time on the Bench!   Participants will be able to use their playing skills seated at the organ console. Participants are encouraged to bring a piece of music they are currently studying with their piano teacher. It's a great opportunity to see how different the music sounds between instruments.
Note that in order for everyone to enjoy this experience, playing time will be brief. HOWEVER, Mrs. Acuff has graciously offered to stay after lunch for anyone who wishes additional time on the bench.

PIZZA!  PIZZA!

After all groups have completed the three sessions noted above, we will gather in the church fellowship hall for some tasty pizza and drinks.
It is also a great opportunity to meet others who share a love of music
and the pipe organ! Each participant will receive a homemade "pipe" pretzel, compliments of Mrs. Acuff.

The official program will end around 12-12:30. Afterwards, those wanting more playing time will return to the sanctuary.
